Dear Brown Girl, You Can Miss Them and Still Choose Peace

Dear Brown Girl,

Separation can feel different from one hour to the next. You may wake up certain of your decision, then find yourself missing the familiar by afternoon. You may feel relieved, heartbroken, hopeful, and angry all in the same week. None of those feelings cancels out the others.

You are grieving more than a relationship. You may be grieving the future you pictured, the routines you shared, or the version of things you kept hoping would arrive. Give yourself room to feel that loss without turning it into proof that you made the wrong choice.

And when a good memory comes back, let it be a good memory. You don’t have to erase what was beautiful to be honest about what was painful. You can love someone, miss them, and still need space to hear yourself again.

Take this season one day at a time. Eat something. Rest when you can. Reach for the people who help you feel steady. On the days your emotions change without warning, remind yourself that healing rarely moves in a straight line.

Dear Brown Girl, you don’t need to know what the rest of your life will look like today. For now, let yourself breathe. Let yourself feel. And trust that you can meet the next moment when it comes.

With Infinite Love Always,
Your Truest Self 🖤🤎
